On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 3:55 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a crash that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 10400 block of S IH-35 proper southbound. The driver remained on scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 10th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 10 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, five fatal crashes resulted in five deaths.
