The City of Austin’s Office of Arts, Culture, Music & Entertainment (ACME) has launched The Creative Reset, a year-long, community-led initiative to shape the future of Austin’s creative ecosystem.

Phase 1 of the Reset begins with an enhancement of the City’s cultural funding programs, including the Nexus, Thrive, and Elevate Grant Programs, as well as the Austin Live Music Fund, Creative Space Assistance Program, the Heritage Preservation Grant, and the Art in Public Places Program.

Community members across Austin are encouraged to participate through a variety of engagement tools, including a citywide survey available through June 5. Community members can join dedicated focus groups or lead discussions with a free toolkit available now for download. Public listening sessions with ACME Director Angela Means are also planned for next month.

“This marks a pivotal moment in the City’s commitment to its cultural sector,” says Director Means. “The Creative Reset isn’t just a single initiative—it’s a year-long process grounded in collaboration. It’s about bringing artists, musicians, historians, creatives, and community voices together to reimagine how Austin nurtures its creative spirit. We're building this brand-new Department together. We want every voice at the table.”

All feedback collected during the initial phase will be used to develop new program guidelines rooted in accessibility, transparency, and community priorities. A public dashboard will launch, allowing the public to track progress and review how their input is being used throughout the year.
