About the Board
The Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) oversees the real and personal appraisal value of properties in Travis County as prescribed in Texas Tax Code, Chapter 6. The district is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Travis County, Texas. The Board hires the Chief Appraiser, approves the TCAD budget, approves contracts, sets general policies, and appoints the Chairman and secretary of the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The Board does not appraise property or review property values, and the Board does not appoint members to the ARB.
