On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 3:42 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle in the 8000 block of N IH-35 service road southbound. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s fourth fatal crash of 2026, resulting in four fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2025, one fatal crash resulted in one death.
