  • How can I obtain Native and Adapted Plant Guides?

We are currently able to mail out plant guides that have been purchased. The time it takes to receive them may be longer than normal because they will only be mailed out one day per week.

We are temporarily unable to allow plant guides to be picked up at our office.

Please check back here for updates.

The Native and Adapted Plant Guides were developed for City of Austin residents. Due to its popularity it is made available for purchase to entities outside of our area.

Anyone:
Access it online in a Downloadable or Searchable database format

Citizens of Austin and Travis County:
It is available for free to Austin and Travis County residents.

Pick up a copy at a Grow Green distribution location
Plant guides are distributed free of charge at participating Austin-area Grow Green partner retail & wholesale nurseries, home improvement centers, non-profits and City of Austin locations. Click here for a map of distribution locations.

Some of the distribution locations are open. They may or may not have any plant guides available. We strongly suggest you call ahead to make sure they have them in stock.

Outside of Travis County – we are currently able to mail out boxes of plant guides that have been purchased.

North to Killeen and to the south of San Antonio:

The priority for the distribution of Native & Adapted Plant Guides, paid for by Austin citizens, are Grow Green nurseries and program partners. As a courtesy, we sell them to businesses and entities outside of Austin, but we reserve the right to limit the sale, when the inventory is low, or an anticipated high demand period is expected.

We only sell the Plant Guides by the box of 40. After completing the online form, you will receive an invoice and confirmation via the email you provided.

  • Only Option:  Have a box (or two) of 40 copies mailed to you. The charge is $2 per guide/$80 per box

Please Note: The plant guides cannot be sold for profit or as a fund-raiser. If they are resold it must be for the price that was paid for the guide.  (If you pay $1/guide you can only resell them for $1). Entities that violate this policy will not be allowed to purchase the guides in the future
