This class covers the basics of the Cooperative Business Model and opportunities for owners to sell a business to the employees.

Local Cooperative expert Annelies Lottmann, a cooperative development specialist, will begin with the basics of the cooperative model and cooperative principles and talk through the practical ways that these core values operate in the context of worker-ownership. This course is designed to give participants knowledge and tools to consider whether conversion to co-op could be right for their business or workplace. The class will include: Conversion to a cooperative happens when a small business owner sells it to the employees. With this powerful succession tool, small businesses can remain open and stable upon an owner’s retirement. In addition, worker-owners have the opportunity to emerge as leaders and build equity in the business.
