Saxon Pub, Jo’s Coffee Open at the Heart of Austin, Construction Set for James Avery, Scoreboard and Starbucks
The renovation to transform the main live music performance area at the Austin airport into the Heart of Austin venue is complete with the opening of a new stage, bleacher seating and bar. Construction of James Avery, Scoreboard and the first Starbucks in the Austin airport will soon start with the closing of Austin Warehouse.
The construction walls have come down in the center of the concourse at the Barbara Jordan Terminal revealing the Heart of Austin. The Heart of Austin is a center showcase and main live music performance area that includes the Saxon Pub bar, Asleep at the Wheel music stage, and Jo's Coffee at the Austin airport.
Spinning above the 4,456 square foot Heart of Austin is a 9-foot neon lighted guitar. Also returning to the terminal, placed atop the bar is the original Saxon Pub knight, affectionately called “Little Joe.” Adding to the ambiance of the Heart of Austin is overhead outdoor string lights providing a comforting backyard porch and patio feel.
The Heart of Austin includes seating for 190 patrons, a 317 square foot live music performance stage, 262 square feet of bleacher seating, the Earl Campbell food truck, Jo’s Coffee, and a 876 square foot bar.
Jo’s Coffee offers hot and iced coffees, espressos, and Chai tea, grab and go pastries including muffins, coffee cakes and croissants. Jo’s will also offer Mexican Coke, bottled juices and water.
Earl Campbell’s food truck offers a wide variety of tacos and bowls including brisket, BBQ Jambalaya, Cajun chicken, hot links and bean & potato for lunch. For breakfast, the food truck will offer brisket, sausage, bacon egg and cheese plates, tacos and sausage rolls.
Operated by concessionaire Delaware North across from Gate 19, the Heart of Austin offers over 250 USB charging ports and electrical outlets located at the wood top tables, at the bleacher seating area and at the bar.
A Starbucks Coffee will soon start construction at the Austin airport and will be located just beyond Checkpoint 1, across from Gate 14. The 554 square foot café will feature Starbucks-branded specialty coffee, tea drinks with sweet treats and baked goods. The first Starbucks branded store at the Austin airport will also offer grab & go and quick serve items such as sandwiches, salads and fresh fruits.
New airport concessionaire HMSHost will operate the Starbucks venue in the location of the now closed Austin Warehouse.
Adjacent to Starbucks will be The Scoreboard, an athletic merchandising and souvenir store offering The University of Texas and Texas A&M University men’s, women’s and youth apparel. Operated by Paradies Lagardere, the 320 square foot store will also offer Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers items.
James Avery artisan jewelry kiosk is under construction beyond Checkpoint 1. The 450 square foot standalone kiosk will offer Texas Hill Country jewelry including charms, rings, bracelets and pendants.
JetSet market opens across from Gate 24
JetSet, a quick and convenient store is now open just beyond Checkpoint 3. The market offers quality content, everyday essentials and luxury items for passengers. Replacing Waterloo Records/Austin City Limits, the new 1,115 square foot JetSet market across from Gate 24 has four distinctive areas including a media lab, local and Austin made section, apothecary/healthcare and a food market area.
