 Getting Around Austin

Before you go, use the interactive Spring Festival Season Mobility Guide to see detailed road closure information, public transportation routes, and more.

Transportation Options

  • Bus & Rail - Catch a ride with CapMetro, the public transportation provider in Central Texas. Download the CapMetro App to buy passes and plan trips on the go. CapMetro provides a network of bus routes, MetroRapid Routes 801 and 803, and MetroRail service to keep people moving into and out of downtown and throughout the city. CapMetro’s trip planner can help you find the best route to your festival event. Check out the CapMetro website for more information.
  • Bike Share - Download CapMetro's MetroBike app to rent a bike using 24-hour/day, on-demand bicycle stations in the urban core.
  • Bicycling - Riding a bike is a fun, healthy, and environmentally friendly way to get around Austin. You can find more information on the Active Transportation Program page, including route maps and safety tips.
  • Ground Transportation to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport - You can find ground transportation options, including taxis, rideshare, shuttles, pedicabs and low-speed electric vehicles, limousines, and charter services. For real-time flight display boards, travel tips, parking availability and more, visit FlyAustin.com and follow @AUStinAirport on Twitter for airport information.

Downtown Parking

  • The City’s Parking Enterprise Division provides information about parking downtown, including parking meter enforcement times, a map of downtown parking lots and garages and even a mobile application to assist you in finding a downtown parking spot.
  • The ParkATX mobile app allows you to pay, extend and manage your parking session remotely with just a few taps. Use validation codes FREE15ATX1 and FREE15ATX2 to receive up to two free 15-minute parking sessions every 24 hours.
  • Plan a safe, car-free ride to the party. Austin has resources to help you safely get home. If you make the responsible decision of taking a taxicab, bus or rideshare service, you may qualify for a parking ticket waiver.

 Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Travel Advisory

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) expects a consistently high volume of travelers during the Spring Festival and Spring Break travel season, which begins on Thursday, March 7 and ends on Sunday, March 17. Particularly, the following days are expected to be very busy for departing travelers:

  • Thursday, March 7
  • Friday, March 8
  • Sunday, March 10
  • Monday, March 11

Travelers are encouraged to arrive at least 2.5 hours early prior to their domestic flight’s departure time and at least 3 hours early for international flights, no matter which day of the week or time of day your flight is scheduled for. Travelers flying out as part of a large group, with small children or those who need to check luggage or drop off a rental car should give themselves plenty of time to perform all their needed activities prior to joining TSA screening lines. Travelers with carry-on luggage only and TSA Pre-Check or Clear can expect to have a faster experience than those with checked luggage or General TSA screening only.

AUS has more resources, like comprehensive travel tips, construction alerts, concession information and a digital wayfinding map available at FlyAustin.com.

 Leave No Trace

Protect our parks, trails, and green spaces so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

  • Take trash and leftover food with you when you leave Austin’s green spaces.
  • Scoop the poop and dispose of pet waste bags in designated areas.
  • Leave rocks, plants, flowers, and other natural objects as you find them.
