Attending a City Council meeting or contacting your representative are only a couple of ways to impact your local government. The City of Austin provides some alternative ways to participate.

Find Ways to Give Input

Provide input online through SpeakUp Austin!

SpeakUp Austin! Is the City’s online engagement platform. Learn more about active engagement projects, find ways to participate, stay informed about outcomes, and share your feedback. When you’re not able to attend public meetings, engaging online is an accessible alternative.

Contact Austin 311 to provide input

Austin 311 is a quick and accessible way to share your ideas. If you have an idea that would improve a program or policy at the City of Austin, or solve a challenge facing our city, contact Austin 311 and give your input. You can submit ideas by calling or through the app. We will notify you when we are requesting feedback on specific topics. When calling 311, please mention that you are calling for a Community Engagement project.

Participate with Boards and Commissions

Many recommendations and decisions are formed through Boards and Commissions. You can attend a meeting and sign up to speak, watch discussions online, or even apply to represent your District when positions are vacant.
