Free Showerheads
City of Austin customers can pick up free water-efficient showerheads during business
hours at our offices: 625 E. 10th St, Suite 615. These showerheads have a flow rate of 2.0 gallons per minute (gpm).
If you haven't replaced your showerheads in several years, you could save up to 2 gallons per minute. Multiply
that by the length of your average shower and see how your savings could add up!
If you prefer to purchase a handheld or other special showerhead at your favorite retailer, look for one with a flow rate no higher than 2.0 gpm and
do not alter the flow regulator. If you've purchased a showerhead recently, it's most likely a water-saving model.
If you'd like to measure the flow rate of your existing shower or faucet, stop by or call 974-2199 and
ask us for a flow-rate bag. Markings on
these special plastic bags show you how much water your fixture is putting out.
Free Faucet Aerators
Faucet aerators mix air with water to reduce the water a fixture puts out without reducing water pressure.
You use less water without noticing a thing! Faucet aerators for kitchen (2.2 gpm) and bath (1.0 gpm) are available free through
Water Conservation at 625 E. 10th St., Suite 615.
