City Of Austin
SMALL & MINORITY BUSINESS
RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

The Department of Small & Minority Business Resources (DSMBR) assists small, minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises (MBE and WBE) as they pursue contracting opportunities with the City of Austin.

The program encourages minorities-owned and women-owned business enterprises to participate in City contracts by establishing special procurement goals for each contract type. DSMBR sets MBE/WBE & DBE contracting goals in the areas of construction, professional services, commodities, and non-professional services.

To ensure that only bona fide MBE, WBE or DBE businesses participate in the program, DSMBR has a comprehensive certification program. Only those businesses determined to be owned and controlled by minorities or women who are socially and economically disadvantaged individuals are certified. A firm designated as an MBE, WBE, or DBE will have its name appear in the vendor availability list. This document is made available to prime contractors and other procurement entities such as Travis County and Austin Independent School District.
