Teen Programs

The Austin Parks and Recreation Deparment offers a wide variety of programs for teenagers 13-18 years of age. Many traditional recreation programs are held at our 20 Recreation Centers, the Dougherty Arts Center and the Austin Nature and Science Center.

The Department has designed several award winning specialized programs to involve teens. These programs include Totally Cool, Totally Art, the Neighborhood Teen Program, the Department Bike Team and more.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department uses a professional, systematic and studied approach in determining the programs and services we offer our community. This strategy is reflected in our Recreational, Environmental, and Cultural Program Principles. These principles are used in determining programs and services.

Local Standards of Care for the Parks and Recreation Depaitment children's recreational programs under Texas Human Resources Code Section 42.04 l(b)(14) (Required License and Accreditation) and its home rule authority.
