Austin-Travis County EMS serves a population of over two million citizens and over 1,300 square miles, including all of Travis County and parts of Williamson and Hays Counties. ATCEMS operates 37 full-time ambulances and 6 Peak Load Units (PLU’s). The 6 PLU’s and 4 full-time ambulances are assigned to a 12-hour shift schedule. The remaining 33 ambulances are on a 24-hour shift schedule.
We are currently in the process of converting all units from a 48 to a 42 hour work week. You may view samples of our 12 and 24 hour shift calendars below. ATCEMS will have multiple hiring processes throughout 2017 to phase out the 48 and move to a 42 hour work week.
