Definition

Incident: This is a count of each single unscheduled emergency event for which A/TCEMS assistance is requested. This definition excludes calls classified as non-emergency calls.

Why is this important?

This is a basic measure of how busy we are. We track this data to monitor call volume, which we often refer to as “demand.”  Monitoring demand is important because it translates to workload.  This information, along with other data, is used to make sure we have enough resources available to meet current needs and to project future resource needs.

This measure relates to our Strategic Goals for Service and Finance- S1, SIncidents2, S3, F2, and F3:

S1: To be an organization that strives to improve the lives of people in our community.

S2: To have a service delivery model that best serves the needs of our community.

S3: To be an organization that puts service before self.

F2: To be an organization that provides value to the community.

F3: To provide quality cost efficient service to the community.
