Deceased: Patrick Leonard Ervin, Black male, D.O.B. August 30, 1966
The preliminary investigation shows that a tan Hyundai Elantra and a white Toyota Camry were traveling northbound near the 12100 block of N. IH-35. The driver of the Camry tried to take over the lane that the Elantra driver was in and lost control of the vehicle. Both cars slid off the roadway and the Elantra struck a tree. The driver of the Elantra, Patrick Leonard Ervin, died at the scene. The driver of the Camry was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is Austin’s 29th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 30 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, there were 22 fatal traffic crashes and 23 traffic fatalities.
