Deceased: Wing Cheung Chou | Asian male | 08/01/1949
The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2010, blue Honda driven by Wing Chou was travelling eastbound in the 14000 block of N. SH-45 when he lost control and slid into a concrete barrier before rear-ending a parked Austin Fire Department apparatus truck. The AFD vehicle’s emergency lights were activated as it was partially blocking a lane of traffic to help protect a wrecker driver who was loading up a vehicle that had been involved in a separate collision.
Austin firefighters extracted Mr. Chou and his passenger. They were both transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where Chou later died from his injuries. The passenger in the vehicle had serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
