Cat Quintanilla presents a solo exhibition of sculptures, photography and block prints at the Mexican American Cultural Center, fittingly located in the Rainey St. neighborhood where she grew up. "Por Fin: Impresiónes y Expresiónes de México" (“At Last: Impressions and Expressions of México”) reflects the artist's focus for a future that is diverse and rich with her family’s Mexican culture. Many of her stone carvings reflect her personal and artistic journey to Guanajuato, México to reconnect with her Mexican culture after a life of service in Austin that has included leadership roles such as serving as councilwoman and mayor of the City of Sunset Valley, Texas. There will be over thirty sculptures, thirty 30” x 20” photo posters, and a limited edition of lino prints.
The opening reception is on January 25, 7-9pm and the exhibit will be on display in the Sam Z. Coronado Gallery at the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center until March 23, 2019.
