AUSTIN, TEXAS – Passenger traffic at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport remained lower than usual in October, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. October passenger traffic decreased by 67.7% compared to October 2019 with 507,858 passengers flying during the month.
October 2020
Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for October 2020 was 507,858 down 67.7% compared to October 2019. October 2020 enplanements totaled 251,734, down 67.7%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 157,915 down 69.5%; American Airlines passengers totaled 117,901, down 57.4%; United Airlines passengers totaled 77,327, down 65.9%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 61,803, down 70.9%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 28,876, down 60.3%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 22,108, down 63.1%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 19,753, down 57.5%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 16,793, down 83.2%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 3,618, down 60.3%; Sun Country passengers totaled 1,590, down 54.9% and Swift Air passengers totaled 204.
October 2020 air cargo totaled 22,472,022 lbs., up 29.6% compared to October 2019. International air cargo totaled 32,309 lbs., down 98.2%. Atlas Air carried 8,127,768 lbs.; Federal Express carried 7,976,003 lbs., down 1.3%; and United Parcel Service carried 2,635,193 lbs., down 22.1%.
Air Services transferred 772,246 lbs. of mail, down 20.6%; and 475,981 lbs. of belly freight, down 76.5%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 3,225, down 23.9%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 10,871, down 42.9%.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – October 2020 was 5,447,217 down 62.2%, compared to January – October 2019. January – October 2020 enplanements totaled 2,714,542, down 62.3%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,828,207, down 62.5%; American Airlines passengers totaled 1,132,959, down 55.8%; United Airlines passengers totaled 701,501, down 66.1%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 687,703, down 65.1%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 367,507, down 40.2%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 222,090, down 57.6%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 186,184, down 75.4%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 169,865, down 64%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 70,475, down 55.3%; British Airways passengers totaled 29,217; Lufthansa passengers totaled 15,883; Air Canada passengers totaled 10,317; AeroMexico passengers totaled 10,293; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 10,092, down 69.1%; Norwegian Air passengers totaled 3,474; Swift Air passengers totaled 1,132, down 38.7; VivaAerobus passengers totaled 197; and Miami Air passengers totaled 121.
January – October 2020 air cargo totaled 172,530,392 lbs., up 16% compared to January – October 2019. International air cargo totaled 4,744,297 lbs., down 71%. Federal Express carried 76,199,423 lbs., down 1.9%; Atlas Air carried 47,309,635 lbs.; and United Parcel Service carried 26,292,391 lbs., down 16.7%.
Air Services transferred 6,223,242 lbs. of mail, down 28.2%; and 8,847,855 lbs. of belly freight, down 50.9%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 27,808 for January – October 2020, down 22.7%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 109,853, down 37.2%.
