The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to share how they’d like the park activated. While the land is currently not accessible to the public, the gates will be opened for this special event. Attendees will visit key areas of the site, including a rustic ranch house, open meadows, and spectacular heritage trees. The master-planning team will discuss the site’s history, ecology, and unique opportunities.
The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is beginning the master planning process for the John Treviño Jr. Metropolitan Park. The land for the park – located along the Colorado River between highways 183 and 130 – was acquired by the Austin Parks and Recreation Department in 2003. The site represents an opportunity to open 330 acres of new parkland, including river access, to the residents of Austin.
