On Monday, March 22, 2021, Austin 911 received a call of shots fired in an apartment unit located at 11901 Pavilion Blvd. Upon arrival, Austin police and Austin-Travis County EMS personnel discovered a male and female with gunshot wounds. EMS attempted life-saving measures on the male, later identified at Patrick Renda, but he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased on scene at 1:32 p.m. The woman was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was treated and released.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel arrived to begin processing the scene. Nearby residents reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a White male, wearing a black jacket and black pants, flee northbound on foot through the parking lot immediately following the incident.
The Travis County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and confirmed that Mr. Renda’s cause of death was due to gunshot wounds and the manner was homicide.
The motive for this shooting appears to be drug related.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
