Fatality Crash #9
Pedestrian was struck by Astro Van.

Location: 4300 Block of South 1st Street
Deceased: Vincent Lopez IV, White male (D.O.B. 1-20-76)
Narrative: Preliminary investigation shows that a 1996 Chevrolet Astro Van was northbound in the 4300 block of S. 1st St. A pedestrian was west bound across S. 1st St. and was struck by the Astro Van. The pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges are expected to be filed.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-4724. This is Austin’s 9th fatal traffic crash and the 10th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 4 traffic fatalities.
