On Friday, July 24, 2020, at approximately 3:29 a.m., APD officers responded to a multiple-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cameron Rd. and the E. Anderson Ln. westbound service road. The initial investigation shows that a 2018, black Nissan Versa, which had been reported stolen on July 2, 2020, was traveling northbound in the 7600 block of Cameron Rd. At the same time, a box truck was traveling westbound in the 1500 block of the E. Anderson Ln. service road in the center lane. A 2008, gold, Chevrolet Malibu was stopped at a red light in the 7700 block of Cameron Rd. facing southbound. The box truck proceeded into the intersection with a green light at the same time the Nissan entered the intersection, running the red light. The box truck struck the passenger side of the Nissan causing it to then crash into the Chevrolet Malibu. One occupant in the Nissan was pronounced deceased on scene at 3:56 a.m. An additional occupant was ejected from the vehicle and despite life-saving measures by first responders, was pronounced deceased on-scene at 4:06 a.m. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
