Tool provides information on code violations and issued building permits.
The Development Services Department has launched the Austin Code & Permit Tracker, a new online search tool that provides information on code violations and issued building permits.
The new tool is the result of a partnership with Austin Code Department and Civic Insight, a company that tracks development data for municipalities and presents the data in simple language and visualizations for the public.
The search tool was initially launched by Austin Code Department in August of 2015 as the “Code Case Tracker” to inform residents about code-related activities in their neighborhood. The Development Services Department partnered with Austin Code and Civic Insight to add a search function for issued building permits. The newly updated tool now includes both building permits and code violations.
To use the Code & Permit Tracker, users can enter an address in the search bar or zoom in on the site map to view results by activity, time period, and neighborhood or council district. Users can also create an account to save searches and request e-mail updates for selected properties. The tool also includes an analytics feature that displays the permit and code violations issued daily and weekly for a specific address or area within a given timeframe.
To date, the search tool has received 4,573 unique visitors, and has 153 registered users. Of the registered users, 99% have subscribed to a specific property, with 98% enabling email notifications, and 81% have addresses saved on their watch list. To view the Code & Permit Tracker, go to the Development Services homepage at DevelopmentATX.com.
