Share your thoughts at an upcoming stakeholder meeting.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) invites curbside customers to provide feedback at two upcoming stakeholder meetings regarding the clothing recycling service operated by Simple Recycling. The Simple Recycling service allows Austinites to set unwanted textiles and housewares at the curb for collection. The service accepts clothing, shoes, accessories, fabrics scraps, stuffed toys, linens, tools, toys, hats, purses, kitchenware and books for recycling on the same day as customers’ regular recycling day.

ARR is seeking feedback from customers who have used the Simple Recycling service as well as those who have not. The responses gathered from these meetings will be used to inform future curbside textile and housewares recycling service modifications or enhancements. The meetings are free and open to the public.

It is not necessary to attend for the entire meeting time. Kid’s activities will be available.

Customers who are unable to attend either of the meetings are invited to provide their input electronically by taking this survey.

A 2015 study found that ARR curbside customers send approximately 6.6 million pounds of textiles to Austin landfills each year. Austin Resource Recovery launched the service on Dec. 5, 2016, and to date, Simple Recycling has collected approximately 675,000 pounds of clothing and housewares.
