New campus could bring more than 3,600 jobs to Austin
Austin, TX - The City of Austin welcomes Apple's plans to build a new campus and bring more than 3600 new jobs to the city. Austin is competing for Apple to build a new campus supporting the company's growing operations in the Americas with expanded customer support, sales and accounting functions for the region. If approved, Apple's $304 million capital investment will create 3,600 jobs in Austin over the next decade. Apple has a long standing relationship with the City of Austin and the new campus would more than double Apple’s workforce in Austin.
In exchange for Apple’s $304 million capital investment to build a new campus and create these jobs in Austin, the city has offered Apple a performance-based grant investment of $8.6 million over a 10-year period.
A presentation on the proposal will be provided to the Austin City Council at a Special Called meeting on March 15 at Austin City Hall. Council consideration on the proposal will occur at the regularly scheduled Austin City Council meeting on March 22.
