Starting on Monday, February 13, Barton Springs Pool will temporarily close to complete a critical phase of the Eliza Spring Daylighting Project. A drawdown of the pool is necessary to complete the work. The pool is scheduled to reopen on Monday, February 20.
Deep Eddy Pool will have extended hours while Barton Springs Pool is closed. It will be open on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on weekends from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Eliza Spring Daylighting Project will remove a failing pipe underneath the north lawn by Barton Springs Pool to recreate a stream habitat for the endangered Barton Springs and Austin Blind salamanders. This spring is one of the four springs in Zilker Park that are collectively known as Barton Springs. Eliza Spring is the sunken, fenced off amphitheater area by the Zilker Zephyr.
This project is required and authorized by the City of Austin¹s federal U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service permit that allows Barton Springs Pool to remain open to the public. For more details about the project, visit austintexas.gov/eliza.
