The Austin Transportation Department (ATD) will hold three driver fairs this week to connect potential drivers with transportation network companies and set up appointments for biometric background checks. The fairs will occur Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 17, 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Austin Community College (ACC) Highland Campus in rooms 2211 and 2212.
The goal of the fairs is to encourage interested drivers to sign up with transportation network companies operating in Austin to enhance service to the community. Transportation network companies have committed to providing resources for the event. Additionally, ATD staff will be available at the driver fairs to answer questions and set up appointments for biometric background checks for the drivers through MorphoTrust, which will provide drivers a special rate of $39.95 each.
“We’re offering these opportunities to drivers so we can get people back to work and so we can assist transportation network companies that are willing to follow City Code scale up their services,” said ATD Director Rob Spillar. “We want to make it easy for drivers and companies to connect to each other in order to provide service to the Austin community – and this event facilitates that.”
