The Austin Police Department Recruiting Division is now accepting applications for the 2019 regular Police Academy. Prior law enforcement experience is not required. Graduates of the police academy will serve as patrol officers in Austin and can later join one of over 50 specialized units within the department, such as SWAT or Lake Patrol.
Applicants must meet four minimum requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen (by birth or naturalized)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 20.5 but younger than 46 years of age when applying
