Deceased: Gerald Leron Williams (aka, Black male, DOB: 8/29/1992
On Thursday, June 16, 2016, at approximately 3:02 a.m., Central East Area Command officers were dispatched to the call of a shooting that occurred in the 5800 block of Sweeney Circle. The victim identified as Gerald Williams sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, and was subsequently transported from St. David’s hospital to UMCB Brackenridge hospital via Austin-Travis County EMS due to the severity of the injuries sustained.
Mr. Williams was pronounced deceased at UMCB Brackenridge hospital at 3:58 a.m. An autopsy was performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and the manner of death was ruled homicide.
Detectives with the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit interviewed witnesses, and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the shooter.
The assailant was described as:
A dark skinned Black male
Approximately six feet tall
He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and long denim shorts.
