We accomplish this goal through three initiatives:
Welcome to Austin Orientation Sessions
These orientation sessions explain how to navigate through Austin’s systems and are designed to help immigrant families feel more comfortable with local schools, law enforcement, public transportation, finances, housing, etc. There are also sessions on how to start a small business and how to access City resources such as public libraries.
Each orientation features an information and resource fair where attendees can meet non-profits and City departments in Austin who are ready to help you settle into our community.
Both English and Spanish-language orientation sessions will be offered. Sessions in English will make translated written materials in Spanish, Mandarin, and Vietnamese (español, 官话, and tiếng việt) available to attendees.
For specific event details, please see the Upcoming Events section on the right side of the screen. The next orientation sessions will take place in Fall 2013.

This program matches newcomers to local volunteer ambassadors through community groups that have signed on as International Welcome Ambassador Organizations. Click the link above to learn how you can get involved!
In partnership with GlobalAustin, the City of Austin has developed InternationalAustin.org, an online portal for international newcomers and for all Austinites interested in international events.
