Fiscal Year 2009-14 Consolidated Plan
The City of Austin is required by law every five years to prepare a Consolidated Plan to receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Plan sets priorities for funding for the Neighborhood Housing and Community Development (NHCD) Office, as well as those HUD funds that are managed by the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department (HHSD). The City receives the following four formula grants:
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
- HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME)
- Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG)
- Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
The City of Austin chooses to include all funding sources, including local funding sources, in all of the HUD planning documents to increase opportunities for public input beyond federal requirements. To prepare for the Plan, the City is now in the process of collecting data through a housing markets analysis and through economic development research.
Public Outreach
The Consolidated Plan will include many opportunities for public input. NHCD staff will begin to schedule stakeholder meetings and public hearings in 2008, and these meetings will begin to take place in early 2009. Please check back to this website to confirm dates for opportunities for public participation. In addition to following public input, the draft Consolidated Plan, as well as the draft fiscal year 2009-10 Action Plan, will be released for a 30-day comment period in summer 2009. The Consolidated Plan will be due to HUD on August 15, 2009.
