Austin Travis County Health and Human Services Department

Flu Shot Clinics

The Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department has scheduled flu shot clinics (walk-in and drive-thru) in October and November for those at greatest risk for complications from the flu. Free flu shots are available for all Medicare recipients (please bring card) and uninsured and under-insured Travis County residents who meet any of the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older, who want to reduce the risk of becoming ill with the flu or transmitting flu to others
  • 18 years of age or older with a chronic disorder or disease

(For example, heart and lung disease, diabetes, blood disorder, weakened immune system, or     conditions that cause swallowing difficulties)

  • 18 years of age or older, who live with and/or care for children less than 6 months of age
  • 18 years of age or older, who live with and/or care for persons at high risk
  • 50 years of age and older
  • Currently pregnant
  • Residents of nursing homes or other chronic-care facilities
  • Health care workers who provide direct patient care

People with mobility impairments (use of wheel-chair, walker, oxygen, etc.) are encouraged to attend the drive-thru clinics because of its ease of accessibility.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend flu shots for infants and children
6 months - 18 years of age.  Parents should contact their pediatricians or call Shots for Tots at
972-5520 for an appointment.

All shots are free—suggested donation is $10
