Austin Travis County Health and Human Services Department

Human Services

Healthy Neighborhood Programs

The neighborhood centers provide a variety of social services for low and moderate-income families in need.

The Austin Health Connection mobile vans provide preventative health services (health screenings and health education) in various community based sites.

The primary goal of the Northeast Austin Weed & Seed program is to promote collaboration among residents, law enforcement officers, government officials, prosecutors, churches and synagogues, schools, local businesses and social service providers to 'weed out' violent crime, gang activity and drugs in the community, and at the same time to 'seed in' coordinated social services, economic revitalization, and neighborhood restoration.

City ordinance (950323-K) requires property owners to remove graffiti within 30 days. The City is responsible for its own property (such as City buildings, street signs, and retaining walls). The same ordinance also requires the City to operate the Graffiti Abatement Program to provide free assistance to property owners with graffiti removal.
