The Consumer Health Program encompasses Food Protection, Food Manager Certification and Custodial Care Inspections.
The Food Protection component focuses on the permitting and regulation of nearly 5000 Food Enterprises located in the Austin-Travis County area.
Our Food Manager Certification component administers the Texas Department of State Health Services Food Manager Certification exam for food workers. Those food enterprises located in unincorporated areas of Travis County are not required to have a Certified Food Manager.
Custodial Care inspections covering general health and safety sanitation are provided on request for day cares, foster homes and adoptive homes.
