The next concert in Austin’s Music in the Parks series will feature live performances by VITERA and Kalua. The event will take place Saturday June 23rd from 1-4pm at the Montopolis Recreation Center, 1200 Montopolis Dr.
With musical influences including Maná, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC and Juanes, VITERA combines old-school American rock with Latin instrumentation, which can be heard on their Spanish and English-fused compilation Súbete. VITERA has performed with many talented artists including Dokken, Jorge Guevara and Grammy-winning Texan band Los Lonely Boys.
The term “kalua,” meaning a diverse mixture of ingredients during a time of celebration, symbolizes this local band’s combination of sounds from America, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela. Fusing their backgrounds to form Rock en Español, Kalua’s energetic music pieces together different Latin genres, all which can be found on their 2008 release La Novedad.
Music in the Parks is a year-long concert series that provides free, live and diverse concerts to Austin's music-loving community in parks citywide. View the full line-up at www.austintexas.gov/musicintheparks.
