Street Reconstruction, Overlay and Utility Improvements
Congress Avenue, Brazos, Colorado, and San Jacinto Streets
Summary
The project will provide for the reconstruction, pavement overlay, and
water and wastewater improvements of various downtown streets.
Status
- Congress Avenue: The contract has been awarded; construction
started April 29.
- Colorado Street / Brazos Street: The design is essentially
complete; bidding is on hold pending completion of Capital Metro's bus
route plan for the downtown area.
- San Jacinto Street: The design is complete; construction is
scheduled for fall 1996.
Issues
Colorado and Brazos will be bid following completion of Capital Metro's
bus route plan.
Description
Planned improvements include repair of pavement failures, construction
of concrete bus pads, construction of sidewalk ramps, and overlay and
striping of the streets, in addition to replacement of old and/or
shallow
water and wastewater lines. Construction limits for each of the streets
are:
- Congress Avenue: César Chávez - 11th
- Brazos Street: César Chávez - 11th
- Colorado Street: César Chávez - 11th
- 2nd Street: Congress - Trinity
- 9th Street: Congress - San Jacinto
- San Jacinto Street: 6th - 9th
