Scattered Cooperative Infill Housing Program (SCIP 2)

Summary

This Infill project is designed to redevelop an area between Branch and Navasota Streets between East 11th and 12th Streets into a revitalized residential community with low cost rentals managed by the Anderson Community Development Corporation (ACDC). Using a combination of CDBG funds, Low Income Tax credit generated funds, and lender funds, SCIP 2 will provide 100 newly constructed affordable single family homes for low and moderate income families. The program will be developed by the Anderson Community Development Corporation with assistance from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and monitored by the City of Austin Neighborhood Housing and Conservation Office.

Status

In September, 1995, Anderson Community Development Corporation (ACDC) applied to the State for Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) for the Scattered Cooperative Infill Housing Program (SCIP) 2 project. Subsequently, the request was denied. ACDC's contract with the City of Austin for federal assistance to implement SCIP 2 is contingent upon the approval of LIHTCs. The City's contract with ACDC was extended beyond the original expiration date of December 31, 1995, to allow ACDC the opportunity to reapply for the tax credits. It is anticipated that ACDC will submit another application to the State in August or September, 1996.
