- Austin Downtown Rangers
In June 1996 the Rangers received training in the following areas: 1) Customer
Service, from ACVB, 2) Sensitivity Training, from CARITAS, 3) First Aid
training, from EMS, and 4) CPR training, also from EMS.

Downtown Development Initiatives
A public hearing on the TIF (Tax Increment Finance district) is tentatively
scheduled for December 12, 1996.

Downtown Parking Plan
Award of the RFP for an electronic parking meter system is anticipated in
November 1996. The conversion to electronic meters will be over a two to three
year plan; the first phase of installation is expected to be complete by
January 1997.

First Tuesday Downtown
The Alliance is committed to producing First Tuesday Downtown the first
Tuesday of each month through December, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Venues remain open
after hours and there are many sidewalk activities until 9 p.m. Attendance
reports have been between 3,500 and 5,000 for the initial July and August
events. The final First Tuesday of 1996 is December 3.
- Holly To Seaholm Transmission Line
All transmission line construction on related distribution lines at the
Rainey Street yard, along Festival Beach Road and on Bergman Drive is in
progress. Design work on landscaping plan along the transmission route is
underway.

Lamar Boulevard Bridge
Preliminary engineering is near completion. As part of the preliminary
engineering public input is currently being sought. This began with a public
meeting September 10, 1996 and a public hearing October 24 and 31, 1996. Two
to three more public hearings are anticipated. The City Council will be
presented with the alternatives and results of public input before selection of
an option on which preliminary engineering will be completed.

O. Henry Museum Preservation Plan
The shutters are scheduled for installation during the week of October 21.

Shoal Creek Flood Repair
The project is in warranty.
