The Friendship City relationship between Austin and Siem Reap is focused on exchange and cooperation in the areas of economic development, education, culture, tourism, and environmental sustainability.

Located in northwestern Cambodia, Khet Siem Reap is the capital of the Siem Reap province. Known as the gateway to the wonders of the Angkor temple complex, and for its beautiful, rice-padded countryside, Siem Reap is a hotbed of tourism. Visitors to Cambodia flock to Siem Reap to visit the “eighth wonder of the world:” Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From its thousands of centuries-old temples to exciting elephant treks, Siem Reap is certainly a wonderful city.
