National Night Out
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that fosters positive relationships and communication between community members and police. It encourages community awareness, involvement, and provides law enforcement accessibility in order to make our neighborhoods safer.
Thousands of Central Texas neighbors participate in National Night Out, which traditionally takes place on the first Tuesday in October, annually. It is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support and participation in crime prevention efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and community relationships.
During the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Austin and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters, EMS medics, and code compliance officers. Events such as cookouts, block parties, and neighborhood walks occur throughout the city and nationwide.
SAVE THE DATE! NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2026!
