The purpose of the Greater Austin/Travis County Regional Radio System (GATRRS) is to improve the ability of public safety and public service agencies to communicate and cooperate with each other, to allow direct access to, and exchange, of data. The GATRRS is a partnership agreement between the City of Austin, Travis County, Austin Independent School District, and the University of Texas at Austin.
Governing Board – The Governing Board sets the policy for the GATRRS and assists in the resolution of GATRRS issues. The Governing Board consists of one member from each of the GATRRS partners and shall be senior executive level employees. Governing Board members may designate in writing an individual within their entity to act in their place.
Operating Board – The Operating Board provides overall direction to the GATRRS system and makes recommendations to the Governing Board. The Operating Board consists of six (6) members from the City, four (4) members from Travis County, one (1) member from AISD, and one (1) member from UT. Operating Board members may designate in writing an alternate to act in their place.
