The 78744 Community Youth Development Program is a state-funded program that provides an array of juvenile delinquency prevention services to support families and enhance the positive development of youth only in the 78744 zip code.

Youth and adult residents of the 78744 zip code make up the 78744 Community Collaborative Committee (CCC). They take the lead in identifying community needs, getting program updates, and advising CYD staff on how to run programs. To join the CCC, please complete the application in English or Spanish. The CCC sets top funding priorities based on a survey conducted every two years. The most recent Strengths and Needs Assessment can be seen here.

The 78744 zip code is one of 15 zip codes in Texas served by the Community Youth Development Program. The Family Support Services program within the Texas Health and Human Services department  manages these statewide programs and tracks their impact on reducing youth crime. 

Parent's Night Out (PNO)

To support healthy families, the CYD program offers Parents’ Night Out events. These events give parents a break while their children enjoy a safe, fun, and supervised environment. It’s a chance for parents to recharge knowing their kids are well cared for.

Post Highschool Readiness Program (PHSR)

The City of Austin’s Post High School Readiness (PHSR) program helps youth in 78744 gain important skills for college and careers. Youth join year-round sessions on goal setting, communication, job skills, and money management. Summer workshops provide hands-on learning and career exploration, ending with a celebration of their achievements.

Family Engagement 

The CYD Family Program encourages strong family connections. We involve caregivers in community and family-focused events. Using the Keep Connected Family Program, we help improve family communication, provide helpful resources, and build stronger relationships.

Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is for youth ages 13–17 who live or attend school in 78744. YAC members meet monthly for leadership training, also called Youth Leadership Development (YLD). They serve as the youth voice of the community and work with the CCC to shape programs. YAC also helps share information with the public and highlights youth needs. Two YAC members serve on the CCC to ensure youth voices are heard when reviewing programs.
