Programs

Do you need help buying an affordable home in Austin? The Community Land Trust program will allow you to purchase a home, but lease the land for a small monthly fee. By taking the cost of the land out of the real estate transaction, land trust homes are more affordable than houses on the open real estate market. The benefit is that it provides access to quality housing for low and moderate income families and keeps housing affordable for future buyers by controlling the resale price of the houses on CLT land through a ground lease and resale formula.

Benefits include:

The Down Payment Assistance Program (DPA) offers a deferred 0% interest loan for eligible "first-time homebuyers" to help purchase a home within the Austin City Limits.  Access to assistance must be made through through Trained Loan Officers (see Loan Officer Training, below) who are registered on the DPA’s List of Participating Lenders.  Only trained loan officers can submit DPA applications for potential homeowners.

The City of Austin is a leading force in the creation of reasonably priced housing. Through its Developer Incentive Program, the City provides incentives to private and nonprofit developers to set aside affordable rental and ownership units in market rate developments to benefit low- and moderate-income households.

AHFC provides funding to non-profits to construct affordable housing.
