CITY OF AUSTIN BUDGET

The City of Austin fiscal year begins on October 1. In the Spring, the City begins the annual budget preparation process which includes opportunities for citizen participation and culminates with the adoption of a final budget in mid-September.

FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009 UPCOMING BUDGET SCHEDULE

• Budget Briefing and Public Hearing August 21st - 2pm (estimated): Public Works, Austin Energy, Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services, Neighborhood Planning and Zoning and Watershed Protection/Development Review. Public hearing to occur no earlier than 6pm.
  
• Budget Briefing and Public Hearing August 28th - 2pm (estimated): Health and Human Services, Parks and Recreation, Library, Police, Fire and EMS. Public hearing to occur no earlier than 6pm.
  
• Council Budget Readings and Adoption September 8, 9, and 10.
  
• Fiscal Year 2008-09 Begins October 1.
