Yesterday, I was meeting with staff at the Austin Animal Center and after the meeting I was walking the hallways and found that every staff office had a four-legged friend keeping staff company.
Each dog greeted me with a smile, wag of the tail, and a friendly sniff of my hand. This put a big smile on my face but also reminded me that the shelter is overcapacity and literally every square foot of the shelter is being used to house and care for these special pets.
Meet a few of the staff office favorites:
Meet Tanuki-Animal ID # A628458
Tanuki (aka Aimee) has been living in Chief Animal Services Officer Abigail Smith’s office for a couple months. She is a black and white Australian Cattle Dog mix and is approximately 5-years-old.
Presently she is on a weight loss plan and when she reaches her ideal weight she will have knee surgery to fix her luxating patella.
Abigail reports she loves to be with people and is available for foster-to-adopt so the Center can make sure her knee gets fixed.
