A nationwide app development challenge will offer tech-savvy Austinites an opportunity to make a difference in their hometown.
The City wants helpful web developers and designers to make Austin a better place.
This year, Austin is one of 10 cities participating in the Google Places API Developer Challenge. The challenge invites local developers to create an app that will improve an aspect of life in the city.
The only requirement is that the app uses the Google Places API.
The developer who creates the best app nationwide will win a free trip to the Google I/O 2013 conference. For more information, visit the Google Places API Developer Challenge website.
The challenge opens Aug. 15 and closes Oct. 31.
