Austin Music Memorial

The Austin Music Memorial salutes the cultural legacy of the local musicians and music supporters that were instrumental in creating Austin’s vibrant music heritage and international recognition as the “Live Music Capital of the World.”

The memorial program was adopted by the Austin City Council on July 26, 2007 to honor deceased individuals who made important contributions to Austin music with the goal of embracing the diversity reflective of the talents, styles, musical genres, ethnicities and traditions that characterize the panoply of the Austin music community. A personalized engraved disc for each inductee is placed on the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts “City Terrace” and is open to the public 24 hours a day.
